From the sands of Bondi to the streets of the Inner West, Sydney is bustling with youth. Each suburb harbours its own distinct landscapes, styles and social climates. As with all neighbourhoods, these personalised influences are carried by their citizens. Sydney city has become a playground for emerging subcultures adopted, appropriated, interweaved and evolved by a generation raised on images of the past and visualisations of the future. ‘Cronies’ is a photographic series exploring the deviant youth culture of Sydney, Australia. Through a highly personal scope, Jake explores themes of Youth, Friendship, Addiction, Sexuality, Existentialism and Emotion while also exhibiting a raw insight into contemporary coming of age.
