Hauntology for Wareamah, 2021
Hauntology for Wareamah interweaves postcolonial theory, speculative fiction, ASCII drawing and Derrida’s concept of hauntology in order to enact a digital haunting upon institutions and businesses operating on the unceded Eora land of Wareamah (Cockatoo Island).This digital spectre whispers prose, laden with prophetic omens and indictments of colonial governance in order to shake the manufactured authority of those presiding over the island. Via email correspondence, the current settler-custodianship, monetisation of histories and truth telling practices of the island’s managing bodies are called into question.
